SMART – Sunrise Windows Twitter

If you follow me at all you know that I am a big fan of social media and believe that most building materials companies are missing a real opportunity by not embracing it.

While my favorite social media channel for building material companies is LinkedIn, Twitter is in second place.   There are more architects, builders, contractors and dealers on Twitter than most companies realize.

Most building material companies today at least have some presence on social media but they view it as a second-class marketing tool compared to more traditional forms of marketing such as trade shows.

A simple way to tell how serious a company is about social media is simply to look at the appearance of their pages on LinkedIn and Twitter.   Most of them make a halfhearted attempt and do not use the same level of creative talent and thinking that they use for their website homepage.

Sunrise Windows is an example of a company that takes their social media seriously.   The masthead of their Twitter page is better designed than the majority of other building material companies.

Yes, it’s pleasing to look at but most importantly it tells me what they are selling.  ” Crafting beautiful windows, doors and special moments”

It doesn’t take much time or money to do a good job designing your social media pages and once it’s done it keeps telling your story over and over again for years to come, at no cost to you.

I encourage you to follow the example set by Sunrise Windows and make sure your social media homepages are as well-designed and thought out as the home page of your website.
